Modulation of recombinant receptors and ion channels by pharmacologically active molecules
Research summary
The main goal of the laboratory centers on the modulatory action, by pharmacologically active compounds, of different receptors and channels, particularly the inhibitory g-aminobutyric acid type A (GABAA) and the strychnine sensitive glycine receptors. I am mainly interested in the characterization and identification of novel lead molecules for the development of novel drugs.
My laboratory employs the two-electrode voltage clamp technique after microinjection of cDNA or cRNA and expression of receptors and channels into Xenopus laevis oocytes
